"Unfortunately, the clutch went early"
Ashcourt Racing have continued our strong start with Lee Johnston taking yet another top 6 place.
A very quick lap on Sunday of 1m39.387s saw Lee line up in 5th place for the opening race of the weekend. A good start to the race saw Lee retain 5th place but his race ended shorter than expected with a slipping clutch on the Ashcourt Racing Yamaha R6.
Monday's 16-lap race had Lee starting in 11th position due to retiring early in Sunday's 12 Lap race. Despite starting in 11th on the grid, Lee made fantastic progress moving swiftly to 8th place and found himself in 7th during lap 3.
After racing hard to gain more places, Lee had to settle with a 7th place finish with the race finishing early due to a crash leaving debris on the track.
Lee finished the 5th placed Supersport rider on the leaderboard and picked the team up a great 11 points leaving him 5th after the first 2 rounds with 37 points.
Lee said "Unfortunately, the clutch went early in the first race and that meant I didn't have such a good grid position for race two and 11th on the grid left me with work to do."
The next race event for Lee and Ashcourt Racing will be the International North West 200 road races which take place on May 14th - 18th. We Hope to see you there.
