We caught up with Lee Johnston, Ashcourt Racing rider, ahead of the 2019 season for a quick introductory Q&A session.
"Yes I'm feeling really confident for this season I'm back on bikes that I enjoy riding and I'm surrounded with good people so it's looking positive".
Question: How did you get into racing?
Answer: "I got into racing because of my dad he loved bikes and watching bike racing so that's were my interest came from."
Question: What inspired you to start racing?
Answer: "I always rode bikes from very young so it was the natural thing just to start racing I guess."
Question: How long have you been racing?
Answer: "I started racing when I was 15 so a long time!"
Question: Are you feeling confident going into the new season?
Answer: "Yes I'm feeling really confident for this season I'm back on bikes that I enjoy riding and I'm surrounded with good people so it's looking positive."
Question: How well have the team's preparations been going?
Answer: "The team preparations are going really well considering we are starting from scratch all the bike are getting ready for the official tests in march and all the other bits and pieces are starting to fall in place."
Question: Which circuit are you most looking forward to this season?
Answer: "I try not to dislike any track but the Isle of Man has to be the pinnacle of the year."
Question: How has testing gone pre-season?
Answer: "Proper testing hasn't quite started yet I've just been out in Spain on my stock bike but that mainly for my bike fitness and to get used to the BMW again for when the proper tests start in March."
Question: What’s your favourite thing about racing?
Answer: "Obviously the best part of racing is winning we all put so much time me effort into it and to get that winning feeling is very special ."
